Foods were purchased in Somalia and trucks were hired and arrange for direct distribution to the affected people or victims.
The project activities are then carried out by members of “Madina Warsame," organization of which deals with the local distribution of food to families.
The project had the goal of providing essential food (rice - corn - beans - oil) to provide one meal a day for at least a month to 5,720 families, consisting of a dozen people, mostly women and children.
The intervention involved two regions of Somalia among those most affected by the famine: the region of Lower Shabelle (Afgooye district), under the control of Al Shabaab, and the region of Galgadud (Gadon and Marergur), in central Somalia and one of the refugee camps that are located in Mogadishu.
In the district of Afgooye were distributed 237 quintals of Rice, 5625 liter of oil, 127 quintals of corn and 123 quintals of bean to 1500 families (enough food for 15 days).
In the villages of Gadon and Merergur was distributed 826 quintals of rice, the 20400 liter of oil, 408 quintals of corn and 408 quintals of bean in 2720 families (enough food for 30 days).
In the refugee camp in Mogadishu were distributed 300 quintals of Rice, 7503 liter of oil, 153 quintals of corn and 152 quintals of bean to 2000 families (enough food for 15 days)
